Every year we practise an evacuation drill to ensure all staff and students know what to do in the event of an emergency. At some stage however, it might be important to have everyone on site remain in the buildings to ensure their safety. This is called a Lock Down and we decided to practise this today. We rang the siren continuously for 30 seconds (to differentiate from the 3 siren blasts of an evacuation). Staff ensured that all external doors were locked and contacted the office to state that all students were accounted for. It is important to practise these safety procedures and we try to make them as stress free as possible for the students. We appreciate that some children may be concerned about the process and we appreciate your assistance in explaining it to your child if required.
